Through the Looking Glass
Interactive AR Poster Series
Through the Looking Glass is an interactive series that explores how fairytales shape and blur our perception of reality. Using the free Artivive app, viewers can reveal augmented, animated layers that transform the static illustrations into immersive story moments. These augmented layers remain active and can still be experienced today.

Concept & Research
Inspired by my lifelong love of fantasy and the way stories mirror life, I set out to create artwork that adds a “magical layer" visible only through technology. I researched the psychology of fairytales and drew on Victorian illustrations and styles, whimsical children's books illustrations, and French portraiture to inform the style, while keeping a cohesive personal aesthetic.
Design & Process
I illustrated and animated four posters, following the stories of Alice in Wonderland, Little Red Riding Hood, Beauty and the Beast, and Peter Pan. Each fairytale or classic story explores a different theme (identity, awareness, transformation, escapism).

Tools: Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Artivive
Role: Concept, illustration, animation, sound design, AR integration
Workflow: One poster per week, iterative AR testing on iPad/phone to ensure seamless looping and alignment.

Exhibition & Outcome
Displayed on a custom wall at FIU’s Rhizome 2024 BFA in Digital Arts/Design Thesis Exhibition, the series quickly became a visitor favorite. Guests smiled, experimented with angles, and many returned for repeat interactions. Professors featured the work on the department homepage and encouraged me to expand the series. This project deepened my animation skills and sparked an ongoing interest in immersive design and desire to expand on my motion graphic skills.
